What is your favorite meal of the day? I think mine would be breakfast. Hard to believe as I've been a breakfast hater for years. But as everybody most probably knows, you should never skip breakfast as it provides you with much needed energy to start your day right.
Seit bestimmt anderthalb Jahren nun schon habe ich ein ganz bestimmtes Lieblingsfrühstück: eine Bowl bestehend aus einem klein geschnittenen Apfel, Sojajoghurt, Trockenfrüchten, Müsli, Cornflakes und allerlei anderen Leckereien. Es hat etwas gedauert, bis ich die perfekte Kombination für meine Bowl herausgefunden habe. So bestand sie anfangs noch as einem kleinen Klecks Joghurt mit ein bisschen Apfel vermischt und einem *Hauch* von Müsli - viel zu wenig, wie ich später eingesehen habe. Ursprünglich entstand nämlich diese Bowl während meiner schlimmsten Abnehmphasen und ich habe sie gehasst, eben weil nur so wenig drin war und es viel zu lasch geschmeckt hat. Dank meiner Ernährungsberaterin habe ich dann die Menge meiner Bowl erhöht und immer mehr an weiteren gesunden Zutaten hinzugefügt, sodass dieses Gericht zu meiner absoluten Lieblingsmahlzeit geworden ist.
Since maybe one and a half years now I've been having a specific meal for breakfast: a bowl consisting of an apple cut in small chunks, soy yoghurt, dried fruits, muesli, corn flakes and other stuff. It took some time until I've finally figured out the perfect combination for my bowl. At first it consisted of a tiny blob of yoghurt mixed with a very small apple and a *hint* of muesli - far too little as I've later realized. Originally this bowl was developed in my worst phases of restricting and I hated them simply because there wasn't much inside the bowl and it's taste was far too boring. Thanks to my nutritionist I increased the amount of the ingredients in this bowl and more and more other healthy stuff was added to it, so that this bowl became one of my most favorite meals ever.

Nowadays I eat this bowl almost every day - seldom there's a day I prefer something else. It doesn't only taste good but is healthy as well and aids your digestion because of the apple, yoghurt, psyllium husks and muesli. The combination may sound weird at first, but if you use the right amounts the bowl will taste heavenly great, especially if you don't hesitate to use a lot of muesli and corn flakes. The secret to it is to not use a lot of yoghurt but just enough so that the apple cubes are coated. As well the order in which you mix the ingredients together plays an important role: if you mix corn flakes, muesli and the yoghurt first, they will soak in all the yoghurt so that almost nothing sticks to the apple cubes and the corn flakes become very soggy. You can see that I've put in a lot of time to figure out this recipe, right?
The recipe - if you can call it a recipe as it is simply putting some things together in a bowl and mixing them together - can be varied in so many ways. You can as an example use a flavored yoghurt, like coconut yoghurt which I can really recommend! And who wants can as well put more (dried) fruits to the bowl or top it with some delicious nuts, for a some extra crunch. It's so diverse, which is an additional reason why I love this meal so much :)
ZUTATEN / INGREDIENTS:
- ein Apfel / an apple
- eine getrocknete Pflaume / one dried plum
- ca. 100 g Sojajoghurt Natur (oder je nach Größe des Apfels anpassen) / ca. 100 g soy yoghurt (or adjust amount to size of the apple)
- ein EL Leinsamen / one tbsp of flaxseed
- ein TL Flohsamenschalen / one tsp of psyllium husks
- 50 g Müsli und Cornflakes gemischt / 50 g of muesli and corn flakes, mixed
ZUBEREITUNG / METHOD:
- Zuerst den Apfel in ganz kleine Würfel schneiden. In eine Schüssel geben und eine klein geschnittene Trockenpflaume hinzufügen. / First slice the apple into small cubes. Put into a bowl and add a chopped dried plum.
- Dann den Sojajoghurt dazugeben sowie die Lein- und Flohsamenschalen. Alles miteinander vermischen. / Then add the soy yoghurt as well as the flaxseed and the psyllium husks. Mix everything together.
- Zum Schluss nur noch mit dem Müsli und den Cornflakes toppen - fertig! / Finally, top your bowl with muesli and corn flakes - done!
So ein leckeres und einfaches Gericht, auch wenn es am Anfang noch sehr ungewöhnlich klingen mag. Außerdem eignet es sich auch perfekt für unterwegs, für die Schule oder für die Arbeit. Lasst es euch schmecken :)
